Gus is on spring break this week, so we enrolled him in camp at Nashville Children's Theater. Needless to say, he loves it. Loves his teacher, loves his new friends, loves highlighting his lines in his script, loves the theater games, and of course the prospect of being on a real stage. The campers are doing an informal performance on Friday afternoon to conclude the week--a short play based on a book calledThe Cow That Layed an Egg. Somehow Gus managed to write a new character into the play, a pop star by the name of ... Justin Bieber. He will also play a chicken earlier in the performance, but later on, he tells me, he will morph into The Biebs, do a few choice dance moves, finish with his signature hair flip, and all will be right with the world.

I love that he loves this stuff. Love that he wears quirky hats. And I love to imagine that he will remain a happy wholesome theater geek for all of his days SHUT UP, THAT IS TOTALLY HOW IT IS GOING TO GO, THANK YOU.

Last night Patrick expressed an interest in going to theater camp next year, as well, which, TWO THEATER GEEKS! YES PLEASE! The majority of the outside world has yet to see it, but Patrick is quite a little ham sandwich in his own right. As long as you don't make the mistake of looking directly at him. He'll dance and rap and sing, but if he catches me with the camera? Game over. He knows all about me and my blog, and he deals with me the same way he would the paparazzi, ducking behind an ottoman or wearing a Thomas the Tank Engine backback to hide his face. The boys and I were dancing to Usher in the living room the other day, and after forbidding me to look at him, Patrick turned the television around so the screen was facing the wall.

"I don't want it picturing me," he said.

Meanwhile, Gus and I are like an episode of Toddlers & Tiaras, fighting over the full length mirror in my bedroom every morning. MOVE, no YOU move, I can't SEE myself, GOD, pass the hairspray.
