The first and only rule of children's art:

NEVER TRY AND GUESS WHAT IT IS.

This, for example? Is not a two-legged earthworm as I suspected.

Picture
It's a giraffe. Which seems so obvious now that I know.
Art is funny like that.
And this? Is not a magician and his dog.

Picture
It's me and Larry. Read into that what you will.

If I had looked closely, I would have known it was Larry by his extremely long neck, around which there always seems to be wrapped a roll of toilet paper. Gus draws him that way in every picture.

Picture
My personal favorite, which I actually framed, is this lion. I knew it was a lion, despite the webbed feet; what I didn't realize is that the lion is not (how many times do I have to teach myself The Rule) riding west on a scooter.
Picture
That is his THRONE. And he's about to sit down.

Duh.

Someday I'll learn.

Speaking of modern masterpieces--have you all checked out the Hoodie Footie Snuggle Suit? I have a few thoughts about it, which I share with my readers over at HerNashville.com.

Happy Monday. And stay warm. (In whatever manner you choose.)
