Gus took it in stride at dress rehearsal, but by Saturday morning, he was standing in the living room surrounded by a pile of Justin Bieber lyrics trying to determine whether he knew any of them well enough to change his routine.
Last month, I took the boys to see Justin Bieber's 3-D documentaryNever Say Never, and that was all it took for Gus to transfer his allegiance from Michael Jackson to The Biebs. He hasn't looked back since. Or stopped flipping his hair. Despite the news that Justin himself cropped his famous locks, Gus is loyal to the One True Church of Bieber, and the hair flipping at our house has reached an all time high. He did stop last week to ask me whether I thought Michael Jackson minded that he was a Justin Bieber fan now, and I reassured him that Michael would be a big fan of The Biebs himself if he were around today. Ahem.
After a morning of feverishly rehearsing Justin Bieber's song "Baby", Gus felt ready.
We made posters ...
I LOVE HER.
And I love Gus. For his courage. His creative vision. And his skinny pants.
His voice is pretty sweet too.
I hope eventually to get the video with a closeup (I know someone was taking an official video, since he reprimanded me for blocking his view with my "I <3 U Gustin!" poster.) For now, this will keep the memory alive.
