And when I get up and open the back door for him, he pauses at the threshold and looks at me like “Are you comin’ with?”
I’m like, “Sean. How long have you been a member of this family? That’s right. Seven years. And in those seven years, how many times would you say have I joined you for a 3am stroll in our backyard? That’s right! Very good! Zero times! GOLD STAR FOR YOU.”
So I let Sean out, and instead of running to the bushes, he just walks out into the middle of the lawn, sits down, and inhales deeply. Like he just needed a contemplative moment to remember what nature smells like. AT THREE IN THE MORNING.
